NEWS:
11/17/2023: The Hondo Office is transitioning to a new phone system and is having difficulty receiving calls. We are in the office if you want to stop by! If you need immediate phone assistance, you may call one of the substations: Devine Tax: (830)665-8006 / Devine Auto: (830)665-8010 / Castroville: (830)931-4040.
If you are looking for your 2023 tax bill, you should receive it soon. They have been sent to the printers and will likely go out the week of Thanksgiving. We apologize for the delay and appreciate everyone's patience.
You can access your tax information, print statements, and more on our public access website: www.medinacountytx.org.
2023 taxes must be paid by January 31, 2024 to avoid penalties and interest.

We will close at noon on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 and will be closed Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

THE MEDINA COUNTY TAX OFFICE WILL NEVER CONTACT YOU BY PHONE AND REQUEST PAYMENT OVER THE PHONE. Tax clerks are not allowed to take payment by credit card or check over the phone. The only time we will contact a customer would be to clear up questions about applying a payment already received. We will never request credit card or banking information over the phone.

Property tax exemptions help to lower taxable value for some taxing units, therefore likely lowering your property tax bill. THERE IS NO CHARGE TO APPLY FOR TAX EXEMPTIONS. Contact the Medina County Appraisal District at (830)741-3035 to find out if you qualify for an exemption and to get more information on the application process. There are companies that charge a fee to help you file an exemption and we want to remind taxpayers that it is free (and fairly easy) to apply! You can also visit the MC Appraisal District's website at www.medinacad.org for more information on exemptions.
** Exemption applications follow County lines. If your property sits in Bexar or Frio County (even if you pay school taxes to Medina County) you need to apply for exemptions with the Appraisal District in that particular county. For example, if the property sits in Bexar County but you pay for Medina Valley ISD taxes, you need to apply for an exemption in Bexar County only.
