NOTICE OF 2018 TAX YEAR PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX RATE FOR MEDINA COUNTY GENERAL FUND

A tax rate of $0.5517 per $100 valuation has been proposed for adoption by the governing body of Medina County General Fund. This rate exceeds the lower of the effective or rollback tax rate, and state law requires that two public hearings be held by the governing body before adopting the proposed tax rate.

The governing body of Medina County General Fund proposes to use revenue attributable to the tax rate increase for the purpose of County operations and improvements.

PRECEDING YEAR'S TAX RATE    $0.5517 per $100 
EFFECTIVE TAX RATE                 $0.5128 per $100
ROLLBACK TAX RATE                 $0.5546 per $100


The effective tax rate is the total tax rate needed to raise the same amount of property tax revenue for Medina County General Fund from the same properties in both the 2017 tax year and the 2018 tax year.

The rollback tax rate is the highest tax rate that Medina County General Fund may adopt before voters are entitled to petition for an election to limit the rate that may be approved to the rollback rate.

First Hearing: September 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Medina County Commissioners Courtroom: 1100 16th St., Room 102, Hondo,TX 78861.

Second Hearing: September 20, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Medina County Commissioners Courtroom: 1100 16th St., Room 102, Hondo, TX 78861.


MEDINA COUNTY BUDGET

Medina County Commissioners’ Court will hold a Public Hearing on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2018–2019 on Thursday September 27, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at the Medina County Courthouse, Commissioners’ Courtroom, Room 102, Hondo, Texas.

This budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $1,344,088 or 8.10%.  The property tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year is $365,543.66.
